We are winding down in our room tonight talking about how it STILL doesn't seem like it's us on this trip. LOL. This morning we checked out of our Prague hotel- A sad but happy day too. We absolutely LOVED Prague. It's just SO BEAUTIFUL. And we can't help but wonder... when IF ever we will be back! We boarded a nice travel bus and took a two hour drive through the countryside out of Czech and into Germany. Gorgeous. Rolling hills and little farms everywhere. It was interesting to come upon corn fields out here. They aren't on flat land. Wherever the landscape goes up and down the corn rows do too. Interesting. We had a hilarious bus ride sitting by two couples. Fritz is a Neurologist/ Author / Inventor of the Breath Right strips.. yes. {Mega-man} and him and his cute wife couldn't be more down to earth. Between them and our other "go-to couple" we giggled the whole way pointing out exit sign after exit sign. Exit in German is "Ausfahrt". Between the weatherman jokes and the "pregnant lady card" we are getting along with all these cute older couples. They have so much wisdom and fun stories to share. We spent a couple hours in Regensburg Germany as it was a half way point between Prague and Vilshofen where we are currently docked. Regensburg was one of the only German towns not destroyed by war when Hitler went through. His intention was to make the town a museum town for the elite race. So everything is still as it was here. The streets are just as you would imagine a little German town to look. Bike riders weave in and out everywhere and I think the souvenir shops here are the coolest so far. Everything is small town- made here. We toured the St. Peters Cathedral. Oh my word. I still can't believe the details these architects put into their buildings. Stone statues LINE the outside of this cathedral... and the inside is no less awe inspiring. It is still currently used for worship on Sundays. I wanted to lay there on the floor and look up for hours. And I would have if this lil babe would have allowed me. After that we went to a little dinky SHACK on the river front that makes sausages and sauerkraut. mmmmmmm. Authentic and yummy. The workers here are SO brass. Not rude but definitely not nice! hahah. They answer yes and no and not much else. Then we boarded back on the bus for another hour and a half ride to Vilshofen. That's where we embarked and will spend tonight. The staff greeted us all lining the wrought iron stairs like that scene in Annie. No joke. All so nice and professional and hospitable. There is always a meat cheese and tea bar in the common room available. As we filtered in for the safety talk we were greeted with champagne and the Captain and main heads all cheered us and gave the women a single rose. Shmancy. So we share the ship with a couple other tour groups and there are "140 and a half on board" as the Ship Manager announced :) So cute. Tonight they had Oktoberfest on the dock - Warren and I were totally smashed so we rested right through that and met up with everyone for dinner. What an operation! Holy cow! They bring out a fancy menu and you pick your appetizer, salad, main course, and dessert and they bring it out in fashion like the freakin scene in Beauty and the Beast! They had some funky ice cream in bubbly that I took one sip of and realized it was soaked in rum. haha before I could do or say anything the nice head waitress came over and shaking her head at our "male" waiter for not realizing my giant baby bump. They are extremely hospitable on this ship! Over dinner we visited with another couple from Canada- He is a vet and she is a kindergarten teacher. They are so cute. When we came back from dinner we found my rose from earlier in a vase, chocolates on the pillow and new water bottles on our desk. :) I could get used to this! Now we are wasted and Warren is literally snoring next to me while a clock tower bell chimes outside our port on the half hour. Haha. It's been a wonderfully long day!
See Steve and his wife greeting us as we embark :)
